The 2013 Annual Scientific Symposium of the Florida Association of Orthotists and Prosthetists (FAOP)/Florida Chapter of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists (FCAAOP) was held July 18-20 at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress, Orlando, Florida. About 200 O&P professionals were in attendance. The three-day symposium, coordinated by Dino Scanio, CO, LO, FAOP treasurer, offered educational courses and workshops for FAOP/FCAAOP members and nonmembers alike. An exhibit hall was also open each afternoon showcasing 56 vendors.

The course offerings ranged from Charleston Bending Brace certification to new technology for individuals with upper-limb amputations to the future of O&P education to trust-based marketing. In addition to having the opportunity to earn continuing education units and attend Florida state mandated courses, time was allotted for members of FAOP and FCAAOP to hold business meetings.

Outside of the conference, attendees and their families had use of the Hyatt Regency's facilities, including a half-acre pool with waterfalls, slides, and a sundeck. Golf, tennis, and paddle boating were also available for guests to enjoy. Friday's Casino Night offered a great opportunity for friends and family to gather in a fun atmosphere.

The 2014 Annual Scientific Symposium will be held at the Renaissance Orlando Resort at SeaWorld, July 31-August 2.
