Ottobock Teams With Indian Government
November 14, 2017
Otto Bock HealthCare, Duderstadt, Germany, (aka Ottobock) is working with the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, a government of India ministry, to offer prosthetic technology and rehabilitative services to young people with amputations in India through a technology transfer project.
"Most Indian amputees are young, predominantly male, economically active individuals. Lack of access to a reasonable prosthetic technology reduces their productivity and affects economic status of the entire family," said Bernard O'Keeffe, vice president, South West Asia, and managing director of Otto Bock HealthCare India.
The partnership is expected to produce 60,000 sets of prostheses over the next five years for people with amputations who are from economically weaker sections of the country.
