Össur, Reykjavik, Iceland, has named Kristleifur Kristjansson, MD, executive vice president of research and development, effective immediately. He will also be a member of Össur's executive management team.

Kristjansson replaces Kim de Roy, CPO, PT, who is leaving the position after two years.

Kristjansson joined Össur in 2012. For the first five years he served as medical officer and as medical officer and vice president of clinical affairs for the last two years. He holds a medical degree from the University of Iceland and is a board-certified pediatrician from the Medical College of Georgia, completed a clinical and molecular genetics fellowship from Baylor College of Medicine, and has been a certified pediatrician and clinical geneticist in Iceland since 1993.

Kristjansson's previous positions include cofounder and vice president of clinical affairs and collaborations at deCODE genetics, a biopharmaceutical company, and cofounder and CEO of Pediatric Services. He has acted as a consulting pediatrician and clinical geneticist for the University Hospital (Landspitalinn), Reykjavik, since 1998, and he is the founder and chairman of the board of Skraeda, a computer company.
