OPAF & The First Clinics, the philanthropic arm of the US orthotic and prosthetic community, is seeking six volunteer members for its board of directors and items for its fundraising silent auction being held at the American Orthotic & Prosthetic Association National Assembly in September.

Board members serve a one- or two-year term and are required to attend at least one of the two board meetings. Directors are also expected to be vitally involved in the ongoing work of OPAF & First Clinics with adaptive recreation and to take an active role with fundraising efforts. Nomination materials are due by August 31, elections will take place September 8, and the term begins December 1.

Nominees should have an appropriate background, a history of 501(c)(3) nonprofit committee/volunteer work (preferred, but not required), a familiarity with and dedication to fundraising, and a strong commitment to the primary mission of the foundation.

Items to consider for donation to the silent auction include sports memorabilia, event tickets, gift cards, electronic devices, O&P goods or services, etc. Items can be shipped by August 23 or brought to the assembly. The silent auction is typically OPAF & The First Clinics' largest fundraiser and is the primary source for its operating income. OPAF is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and all donations are tax deductible.
