Provides orthotic and/or prosthetic services that complement the Orthotics and Prosthetics department, including evaluation and treatment of patients in inpatient and outpatient settings and fabrication of orthotic and/or prosthetic appliances.
Provides comprehensive orthotic and/or prosthetic age-appropriate patient care for newborns to young adults for inpatients and outpatients at assigned orthotics and prosthetics locations, including thorough assessment, formulation of a detailed treatment plan, achievement of accurate measurements/impression, device/component/material design, evaluation of fit and function of prescribed devices, and patient education. Independent patient care is assigned after training/orientation is complete in each specialty area and approved by team leader. Performs follow-up care, including assessment of fit and function and adjustment to device and/or treatment plan when necessary. Communicates changes with physician/referral source and other members of patient's treatment team. Demonstrates thorough, accurate, and timely clinical, technical, and financial documentation, including ordering according to departmental policies.
