The unique
S.W.A.S.H.® (Sitting Walking And
Standing Hip) orthosis, available from SPS, utilizes a complex
angular structure engineered to maintain good hip alignment.
While standing or walking,S.W.A.S.H provides
enough abduction to prevent scissoring and medial femoral
rotation.
As the hips are flexed into the sitting position,
S.W.A.S.H. automatically abducts the hips into a
tripod base for enhanced sitting stability, creating an upright
posture.
Benefits of S.W.A.S.H. include improved sitting
and standing postures, improved stability, and for the ambulatory
user, improved gait.
S.W.A.S.H. does not interfere with children's
ability to play and does not interfere with most walkers,
wheelchairs, or standing frames.

The new line of medipro knee
joints, distributed by SPS, offers versatility,
durability, and expert craftsmanship.
The OFM1SF knee provides adjustable stance
flexion in a 4-bar polycentric joint design. Versatile swing-phase
control allows either manual friction OR manual locking as
needed.
OFM2 is a lightweight monocentric knee joint
providing stance flexion with a stable aluminum frame. Suitable for
low functional level amputees with poor voluntary control of the
prosthesis and/or weak extensors, the OFM2 can be
used as both a locking joint with manual release and as a
free-swing knee joint. The weight-activated stance control brake
releases before toe-off for smoother gait and easier transfer.

ESP created the original transtibial AEGIS
Ultimate Liner with a preflexed design to insure an
anatomically correct and custom-like fit, maximizing comfort and
mobility. Now ESP has added a flexible shuttle umbrella that allows
the liner to move and track with the limb while soft, pliable
silicone gel enhances durability, comfort, and pin-to-lock
alignment. In addition, ESP has added two additional sizes--extra
small and extra large--for a total of five convenient sizes.
Available in locking and cushion versions.

The Wave, distributed exclusively
in the US by SPS, describes a circumferential wave design on the
fabric cover on the NEW ICEROSS® liners
manufactured by Ossur. Similar to the bending section of a drinking
straw, this feature allows the liner fabric to extend over the
front of the knee with less effort. This additional elasticity
reduces the effort used in bending the knee and reduces the
pressure over the patella.
Both the Stabilo and Dermo Wave configurations
are retrofitable with Standard 3mm ICEROSS locking liners.
Features and Benefits:
- Supplex® outer cover, non-ravel stitching, and
superb abrasion tolerance
- Size-Specific Umbrella, minimizing distal elongation
(pistoning)

Leading orthotists, orthopedic surgeons, and
neurosurgeons agree: custom-molded LSOs and TLSOs
are superior to prefabricated versions in biomechanical motion
control and patient compliance.
Prefabricated spinal orthoses do not control lateral flexion and
rotation and are unable to control motion in all planes as well as
a custom. They do not accommodate pendulous patients or provide
adequate means to lock on the patient pelvis.
The Spinal Solutions Custom Anterior Overlap
LSO/TLSO is the most cost-effective way to provide
superior fit and support. An all-inclusive price enables
cost-effectiveness while providing the patient with the ultimate in
triplanar motion control.

The Lamprey Gun Turret was
designed for the M-16, but functions well on sporting carbines,
bolt action or lever action rifles, over and under, side by side,
pump style and semi-automatic shotguns. It has a lockable ball and
socket to allow firing from a variety of positions and a pivoting
platform for smooth gun rotation.
A flexible synthetic polymer "yoke" conforms to various stock
surfaces without marring. It snaps onto the forearm of the stock
and can be pulled back tightening up for precise control.

The Problem: Traditional titanium halo
systems are no longer functional with today's more powerful MRIs.
Incidents of arcing, vibration, and burning have been reported when
patients underwent MRI treatment while in a titanium halo
system.
The Resolution: Resolve--The first
halo system developed completely with electronically non-conductive
materials, compatible with all high-speed MRIs, that still
maintains the integrity and strength of the halo apparatus,
providing safety and image quality.
The keystone is the glass ring,
combined with unique ceramic-tipped "fat" halo pins. These unique,
non-conductive materials allows for the Jerome Halo system to meet
L-0859 code requirements for MRI-compatible halo componentry.

The Biomechanically-Aligned Harness
Anchor (BAHA), is a high-strength,
lightweight, non-metallic component which improves the efficiency
and biomechanical characteristics of the Figure Eight Harness.
Based on the Vertically-Arrayed Dual Ring (VADR) system designed
by Randall Alley, CEO of biodesigns inc. (www.biodesigns.com), the
BAHA opens the angle of the axilla loop, improving
comfort over the standard Northwestern ring harness and possibly
reducing the potential for nerve entrapment syndrome.
It lowers the attachment of the control cable, allowing it to
operate along a pathway that significantly improves the mechanical
advantage of the entire Figure Eight Harness system.
The BAHA is available exclusively through TRS
Inc.

Otto Bock introduces the 1C31 Trias+
Foot. The foot offers the high functionality of carbon
fiber feet specifically designed for moderate walkers. The design
concept of the Trias+ was modeled from the natural
human foot. It provides exceptional walking function--easy rollover
to reduce effort and conserve energy, improved gait symmetry, and a
reduction of excessive forces on the contralateral limb. The
Trias+ foot offers a secure, controlled action
while improving amputee confidence and the ability to vary cadence.
The superior gait characteristics of the Trias+
are a direct result of the unique dual spring elements incorporated
into its design.
