Gunter H. Gehl, CP, passed away on October 31.
Gehl joined Northwestern University Prosthetics-Orthotics Center (NUPOC) in 1966 as an instructor and served as director of the Prosthetics Education Program from 1977 until his retirement in 1992, later earning the title of professor emeritus. 
“His leadership and dedication helped shape generations of prosthetists, leaving a lasting impact on the profession and on NUPOC,” the university said on LinkedIn.
Gehl was born in Germany in January 1929 and immigrated to the United States in 1951. He was drafted into the US Army in 1953 and honorably discharged in 1962. Following his service, he was recognized by Honor Flight Chicago for Korean veterans in 2018 and was a member of the American Legion Post 166 in Glenview, Illinois, for over 30 years.
