New to Massachusetts

Jennifer Halliday

Hey Gang!!
I am a Canadian Certified Orthotist- we have recently moved to USA- central
MA.
What advice do you have as far as my path to working here (my husband was
transferred- I do not yet have a work visa)?
It does not appear that I require licensure to work in MA, and I feel it
would be an expensive venture to obtain my USA license if I will never get
the visa to work.
Any advice on my path to employment? Should I be shopping myself to
facilities hoping they can help me to obtain a visa? Do I apply for a visa
on my own, then shop around?
I don’t want to get myself deported- and I also don’t want to get my hopes
up that I can obtain work in my field here.
Any advice would be appreciated. I assume many of you have done it. I
just need some direction of where to start.
