Dear oandp-l’ers ,
I was just contacted by a local medical professional who is seeking options for his 21 year daughter who has an untreated double curve with a mid-thoracic curve in the mid 20 degree range. He states that as she has been maturing she has regularly been experiencing upper backpain and migraines and he is concerned that it is secondary to the curvature. She has been working with physical therapists and massage therapists , and she has been experiencing some relief with massage but daily treatments are not realistic.
He was asking about any type of soft corset style options that may be available to help provide some corrective support or any other options that may be available to help improve her quality of life.
I suggested to him that I would put the question out to the listserv to see if any of the orthotists out there who have been working with patients with scoliosis who have not had surgical intervention who are experiencing discomfort into adulthood have any ideas for successful non-orthotic treatments or orthotic interventions that have been helpful to others with similar circumstances.
I appreciate any thoughts or experiences that you can share that will provide him with some options to help his daughter.
