Carver service contract inquiry

I purchased CAD/CAM software and a carver 9 years ago from Medico Supply, and yesterday was informed by them that I am now required to purchase a support contract for $1,300 annually if I ever want technical or software support. I was told either I purchase the contract annually or I will have no support from them – paying an hourly rate as needed for services is no longer an option (something we have done in the past).

Has anyone else experienced this with Medico or other CAD/CAM companies? Are other carver companies requiring such contracts when purchasing their carvers, or years after the purchase? Interested in hearing from the field. Thank you.
