Good Morning, Everyone,
Our OPT program has submitted a request to our institution to purchase a 3-axis carver for our students to utilize for creating foam models and subsequently both vacuum-forming thermoplastics and laminating sockets. I would like to get your feedback on the following questions:
1. How important do you think that it is for our students to have both knowledge and skills to be able to vacuum-form thermoplastics for orthotics and laminate prosthetic sockets over foam models in your practices and central fabrication facilities?
2. Do you think that these skills are important for graduates to have when seeking employment throughout the U.S.?
I know that this request is unanticipated but your replies are needed ASAP (today!), as we were originally denied but may be re-considered if we can show relevant necessity for our graduates’ success in acquiring and maintaining employment in the field. Thank you for your consideration and responses.
Bernard
