I have a seasoned knee disarticulation amputee who has been in a skin fit suction socket but I am now fabricating a vacuum system with custom Otto Bock Urethane liner due to a severely scarred distal end that does not tolerate full weight bearing in a skin fit socket. I am having issues with the proximal liner. How high or low do you trim you liners in relation to the perineum and proximal socket trim line? What about the problem with the “muffin top” bulge that keeps pushing down the liner and sealing sleeve (OB Harmony) down. The patient is comfortable in the socket but every now and then when the suspension sleeve rolls down and the proximal liner rolls down he looses the vacuum.
I am curious to hear about how high to take your liner, socket trim line, and how to keep the stuff from rolling down. My patient is not fat at all, use to be a competitive lifter so his thighs are large. Muffin top is the problem, what’s the fix?
