Re: elevated vacuum and flexible sockets

=?utf-8?Q?Markus_S=C3=A4ufferer?=

Colleagues,
Thanks for the many responses to this! Some of the more obvious solutions were to go with the WillowWood One kit or to use the Smart Puck from 5208, which is vacuum formed inside the flexible inner socket. However, most recommended approaches were fairly simple and conventional. Make your socket as you normally would with a flexible inner socket (non-creeping plastic like OP TEK flex or OttoBock Thermolyn). Next, laminate as you normally would but integrate your distal vacuum lamination adapter, be that the limb logic adapter or the Ottobock P4 lamination ring. When you have removed the socket from the cast, clean it up and trim like usual, but drill your vacuum hole through your distal adapter up into the flexible socket liner. This connection must now be sealed. Recommendations included: use an ECHO seal sock over the insert before fixing into the socket frame, use silicone adhesive and a couple of small Chicago screws to hold the insert in place, use and ESP Seal Ring placed over the flexible insert, use alcohol to stuff it into the socket frame and use screws or velcro to hold insert in place. Also recommended were Coyote Optiseal used in the same way or a TEC spot placed distally with a hole punched through the middle and used as a seal. Looks like this is becoming more of a common practice.
Good Luck and Merry Christmas to all!
