I’m hoping that there’s someone on this listserve that can help me. I have an individual who is in the process of gender transition and who became a Transfemoral amputee less than 2 years ago during this transition so she is still a relatively new to life as an amputee. She has just been approved for gender reassignment surgery that will take place in another province/city, she doesn’t want to take a wheelchair with her and has asked me what impact the surgery will have on the fit of her prosthesis and what precaution she will need to take wearing the prosthesis after the surgery.
I have absolutely no experience with a situation like this and cannot answer her questions, so I’m reaching out to the membership of this listserve for assistance. I would appreciate information from anyone who may have gone through a similar situation that I could pass on to this individual to help her prepare for her recovery from this surgery.
