Hi all,I have a BKA patient who also sees a podiatrist for wound care on the sound side. His prosthetic foot is broken and I’m wondering if a podiatrist can write an order for a replacement foot on an existing prosthesis. The Medicare LCA for lower limb prosthetics lists DPM as a “Physician” along with MD, DO, PA, ARNP, DDS, and OD. But they also state that the physician must operate within the scope of practice in the state where they practice. In Washington, the only reference I found on the state DOH web site states that a Podiatrist cannot amputate a foot. Does anyone have any history working with a podiatrist in this type of situation? Thanks.Karl Entenmann, CPOPreferred O and PFederal Way, WA
