prosthetics and electric wheelchairs

Karl Entenmann

Hi all,We have an elderly gentleman who wears a BK prosthesis but only walks short distances in the home.  He uses a power wheelchair for all of his out of home activities.  He has gained some weight and will need a socket replacement soon.  He also is considering obtaining a new power wheelchair.  We have all heard Medicare horror stories about prosthetics and power wheelchairs.  Does anyone know or have had recent experience with Medicare denials for prosthetics when the patient also uses a power chair?  Thanks yet again.Karl Entenmann, CPOPreferred O and PTacoma / Federal Way, WA
