I have a 50 y/o male with Becker MDA. The disease has progressed more rapidly over the last 5 years. He is still ambulatory, but has to lock his knees in hyperextension to stay upright. He falls often and wants to consider bracing. He has Atrophied Quads and Dorsi Flexors. Has anyone had any success with Bilateral KAFO’s? What type of knee joints? I some sort of stance control joint will help with walking, but if the knees are “locked” in extension, how does he sit? I know that bilateral C-braces would work great, but financially that is not feasible.
