I was looking for some feedback about getting a good heel wound relief shoe for a difficult patient. He does not get good support from any standard heel relief shoe and when I tried a more stable and advanced shoe (the Optima), he did not really care for it. MD does not want to do any custom shoes at this time because the wounds are so raw. The patient is overly active for his condition and wears out the shoes quickly, thus opening up his wounds. I have advised total contact casts or an unloading AFO but I cannot get the patient to try at this time. Any advice for a possible OTS shoe that is sturdy and stable and won’t break down quickly?
I appreciate any help and advice…Thank you.
