Recovery audit responses

Frank Shirley

The answers I received from my question regarding the recovery audit I
recently receive, for the most part suggested I send as much substantiation
as possible even though there were other orthosis on the same submitted
bill other than what was listed on the Performance recovery request. This
also is what the representative told me when I called Performance recovery.

Essentially we are being accused of fraud. The audits and
reimbursements, I am sure will only get worse The only way to for our
profession to resolve these issues is to put a moratorium on accepting any
Medicare patient until specific guidelines are addressed. Then end the
retroactive policy of going back multiple years in review but start from
the day those guidelines are implemented. The likelihood of all
practitioners acting as one cohesive unit is probably not feasible. As an
older practitioner/owner I do not envy the younger practitioners future in
our profession.
