Good day list,
This is a question geared more toward administrator and office staff with
regard to records requests. We have quite a few agencies (Attorneys,
Adjusters and such) that require records in paper form and to be mailed to
them. As the demand for *MORE* grows, I’m looking at the cost of producing
these records when they begin to stretch into more them a few sheets of
pages. I’m kicking around the idea of charging a nominal fee for this to
offset not only the tangible pages being printed and packaged but also to
guide staff in prioritizing time. Example, Patient Joe Leglessson has an
ROI request that will create 50 pages to generate, plus time to package it.
verses New Patient Jones whose records and referral need to be reviewed for
appropriate content before we see them.
So first off I guess I don’t know that my train of thought is completely
out of line and if it is, I’m all ears. Secondly, if this isn’t out of
line, what is a fair rate and is it ethical to hold off on supplying
records until the fee is satisfied.
