Posterior Offset Joints for Rotationplasty Prosthesis

Andrew Hoy

Hello list,

I am making a prosthesis for a rotationplasty patient and am trying to
minimize a stance knee flexion movement that causes the transition from
loading response to terminal stance to occur very rapidly. I have been
successful in reducing the deviation a bit from her previous device (made
elsewhere) through alignment but am wondering if posterior offset joints
could be used to successfully improve her gait. I’ve reached out to a few
colleagues but have not been able to find anyone who has experience using
posterior offsets for a rotationplasty device. I am using polycentric
joints right now but don’t have much room to slide them back on the socket.

If any of you have tried this and can offer me some feedback it would be
greatly appreciated!

Regards,
