PT scope of practice

Anne DuBois

Recent posts to the listserv have brought to light verbiage included in a proposed bill to change the scope of practice of physical therapists.
As the secretary of the Florida Association of Orthotists & Prosthetists (FAOP), I would like to assure all Florida O&P practitioners that the FAOP Board of Directors has been aware of, and actively working to address this issue, beginning the day that the bill was proposed. Our lobbyist met with members of the Board of Physical Therapists a few days later to discuss their scope of practice. The PT board was very willing to work with the FAOP and has thus far been accommodating and receptive to our concerns.
In closing, I would like to thank all of the Florida practitioners who are members of FAOP. It is YOUR membership that allows FAOP to fund lobbying efforts that protect the interests of ALL Orthotists, Prosthetists, Pedorthists, and Fitters in the state of Florida. If you are not a member, please join.
Thank You,Anne DuBois, CPO, LPOSecretary, Florida Association of Orthotists & Prosthetists
