complicated case

Steve Scott

Hello List,

I have a complicated situation and am looking for some ideas. I am working with an individual who is a brittle diabetic with a trans-Tibial amputation on his right side and a calcanectomy on his left. The calcanectomy was done in 2007 and he has been treated, by another facility, with a PTB AFO which only partially off loaded the area. Over the years his foot has become flaccid and he’s looking for something that can give him some energy return while off loading the area and still fit into normal footwear.

Has anyone on this list dealt with this type of situation and, if so, how did you treat it and what success did you have? Any ideas would be most helpful as I’ve never run across this before.

Thank you in advance.

Cheers,
