Re: Glueing of soles

Robert Doubleday

Hello List Serve Participants; I have a farmer who works a great deal examining fields, which includes uneven terrain, irrigation pivots, etc. I have modified several pairs of leather boots with vibram type soles with the additional of 1/4″ lateral heel and sole wedges. I have used barge, masters and Renia Colle de Cologne cements in multiple layers; along with using the ‘shoe goo’ product to secure the layers. But within two days to two weeks there is a separation of the sole, the sub-sole, and the vibram. The ‘shoe goo’ product has lasted the longest. But, I have exhausted my knowledge of the usual materials and am looking for a solution. In 36 years I have never had a problem like this. I look forward to hearing possible solutions and will publish the results. Thank you for your valued assistance.
