Bent Knee Prosthesis

Kyle Barrons

I have a patient, 60 yo male, right BKA, and presents with a 70 degree knee flexion contracture, but is able to flex past 90 degrees. MMT is within normal limits and he can perform single limb stance independently. I believe that a bent knee prosthesis will be the most suitable device for him, however,I’ve only read about them in the literature. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on proper casting technique, modification, and components that may aid in developing a functional design that meets his needs.

Thanks!
