Dear List Serve,
I only had these two people respond with their experiences with Allard’s Combo.
However, I had about three people ask for a posting of repsonses because of
skepticism. I did get a call from an Allard rep. Lourie, was very kind and
gave me several names and phone numbers of practitioners to contact who have had
experience with it. If you would like her cell number, I’m sure she won’t mind
answering your questions. Below are the two that did provide their experience.

1) Have tried a couple of them on pt’s with more severe recurvatum then
yours. They worked ok in eliminating the recurvatum (it was less but
not totally eliminated, but it did relieve pain). Getting the
posterior recurvatum resist straps closed tight enough is tough for
larger pt’s or ones with poor hand dexterity/ strength. Also they
don’t seem to work as well on bigger pt’s overall. I have figured out
that it is best to trace the pt’s leg the initial visit if possible
and fabricate, instead of fabricating it while the pt waits. Also the
connector from the AFO to KO section is not the greatest, so i’ve only
used it on lower activity pt’s. With that said, all the patients have
liked them compared to what they were previously wearing or not
wearing anything at all.
2) I’ve used one and had good experience. Not crazy about attachment design
where KO meets AFO, but it works.
