Brightree customers alert

David Hansford

First let me say that I don’t have an axe to grind with Brightree. I was a
customer of Brightree from 1st qtr. 2008 till Middle of 2009. I think that
their system is great for larger to midsized firms. I am a small operation
and did not get an acceptable level of support from Brightree.

The reason for this post is to alert those of you who use Brightree to a
potential problem if you choose to terminate Brightree in the future.

Your company data is not accessible to you after you terminate with
Brightree. All of your data resides on their servers not yours. You can
download a copy of the raw data in Excel or PDF format but you will have to
figure out how to extrapolate any necessary information you may need.

In my case I needed billing and A/R information for 2008. The raw info I
extracted has no way to pull any kind of detailed reports that you can get
when using Brightree.

Once again it’s a good billing and accounting system but falls short in the
office/patient care area. Just keep in mind that once you leave Brightree
you leave your company database behind. I have made at least 5 phone calls
to Brightree to arrange access for the needed information (being audited)
and got absolutely no response since I am no longer a customer they have no
desire to help me even for a fee.
