Paperless Office

M. Britt Spears CPO, FAAOP

Hi List,

I just returned from the Academy meeting in Chicago. It was a great program.. It was hard to find a cup of coffee or even a soda between classes. I thought that was a bit cheap of the academy. I’m sure I’ll get flamed about that comment. Too bad!! Overall it was full of many opportunities to better the field.

I have many questions about going paperless in the office. We’re about to run out of stroage space for our patient files. I need the room as well. I’m currently using Futura and want to go totally paperless. Does anyone have that combination?  If so what are some of the roadblocks/hurdles that had to be overcome?  What type of scanning software works best? What about scanning photos? What are the programs you typically would use to achieve this task?

If you don’t have the Futura combination, please elaborate on your system’s components and expenses.

Thanks in advance, I’ll post the replies.
