Lab renovation question

Hello all.  Just a quick question.  I just leased my neighbors space and am renovating my entire office and had a question.  For durability and easy cleanability I’m considering investing in granite countertops in my plaster mod. area; approx. 30′ x 2′ of counter area.
 
Has anyone tried this out there?  If so, are you pleased with the outcome?  Was it worth the investment?  Do any of you have experience with granite that might know how it would hold up?  Is there a better man-made material for use in the plaster area?
