2-part foam

Schafer, Kristin

Well I did not get much feedback from this query. If any one has any more to
add it would be appreciated.

Original posting: Hi Everyone,
Does anyone know of a 2-part foam on the market that is isocyanate free? If
so, is there any difference when doing foam-ups that we should be aware of?
Who distributes it?

Responses:

I have a friend who is an industrial chemical engineer, he told me that the

“dangerous” isocyanates in the 2-part foam are only dangerous during the
fabrication of one of the parts ( at the factory that makes and mixes Part A

for example) That is when the cyanide is given off. According to him the
gases that are created during the combination and foaming process are no
more dangerous than Barge. I understand your concerns though – we deal with

enough nasty stuff as it is!! He said vent hoods are more than enough
protection. I would be interested to hear what others have to say.

Pls forward or post your replies, Tx. BTW is isocyanate a caracinogen?

Remember that there are two types of isocyanine foams, one that contains
Freon (and should not be carved or cut) and one that is water based. Most of
the iso foams used are now the water based foams. That is what we use for
our CAD/CAM blocks. You may want to contact Utah Foam Products @
801.269.0600 or NC Foam @ 800.346.8229.

Thanks!
