….someone who clearly LOVES what they do.
….someone who knows that getting to know and listening to his patient =
is the first step in taking care of =20
his patient’s needs.
….someone who ENJOYS the working relationships with physicians, = therapists, nurses, family members, fellow
practioners, technicians office staff AND values each one’s = contribution.
….someone who knows that while trying to do business in a comprtitve = market, there is no business unless=20
patient care comes first.
DO YOU KNOW LOU HARVEY, C.O.?
Maybe you do know Lou. If you do then you know what I’m talking = about.
If you don’t know Lou, but you still know what I am talking = about….then you do know the man!
Lou Harvey C.O. has been the best of the best of the above brief = definition of an orthotist. Lou received his=20
education at Cerritos College and UCLA. Lou’s work experience during =
the last thirty years includes Cerritos Orthotics and Prosthetics, = Lerman and Sons and Laternman State Hospital where he gained invaluable = experience in both “brace making” and dealing with extremely = challenging cases. From these experiences Lou gained the most valuable =
tool: compassion. He brought these skills and knowledge to Sunny Hills = Orthopedic in Fullerton, CA.. Here he became one of the most respected = and beloved practioners that patients,co-workers,therapists, nurses and = physicians have ever known. He is simply one of the best at what he = does! So many of us are better practioners indeed better people because = of this wonderful man’s influence.
In 2003, Lou made a big decision. He accepted a position in Hawaii from = Rodney Pang CO at Honolulu Orthopedics. It was a BIG decision and he = admitted it was “…a little bit scary.” Lou’s wife Sharon was born and =
raised in Hawaii. They traveled there several times a year where =
Sharon has a wonderful large family and….well face it, it’s Hawaii!! =20 Fears unfounded, Lou’s dream did come true. He LOVED his new job, loved = his new employers and co-workers, loved his new patients and again, was = doing what he is good at and loving it. They also found and purchased = the home of “their dreams.”
A few months after this “Dream come true”, Lou was diagnosised with = cancer. He is currently undergoing surgeries, radiation therapy, = chemotherapy. The worst part is he feels is he is unable to do what he = loves (work) and unable to provide an income.=20
While Lou and Sharon are fighting their monthly bills, the medical bills = are mounting.
Lou obviously has had a tremendous effect on a lot of lives. A desire = to help has turned into a way to help; a group effort by people who = care. His friends are attempting to establish a prescription assistance = program. A discount card was purchased for medications that don’t = qualifiy in the program. A Special Account has been established with the = Bank of Hawaii-Wahiawa Branch to accept donations to help Lou and = Sharon. We are not asking a lot from anyone, our hope is to receive a = little from a lot of people.
