I thought I would just pass on some information about a new product that I am using with AK laminations.
American Prosthetic Components just released the 3-prong adapter and the lamination tool. Before this was available, and I had to use another brand of adapter, it was tedious work to pack the threads of the adapter with clay, and then have to use a dremmel tool to grind it out, etc. It was a very time consuming and messy job.
This new adapter is much easier, there is a threaded cap that fits over the treads and makes a perfect seal, also providing a nice wide groove to tie off the carbon and fabric. After the lamination is complete, it is a simple task to just unscrew this cap, and the threads are perfectly clean, and there is no need to grind anything. It is perfect.
The old type of adapter has the set-screw on the laminated part. This new adapter from American Prosthetic Components has the set screw on the dome, the laminated piece is solid. This is a much easier one to use, and makes more sense.
Just a thought that I wanted to pass on. When there is something new out there that works well, I think this is the place to share that info.
Also, it costs less money to buy, and the quality is extremely good, flawless.
Also, I am looking for air expulsion valve that have been successful for BKs. I have tried the USMC/Seattle 4 prong, pyramid adapter with the hole in it with the green air valve. The tool to install/remove the air valve is junk and breaks without any effort at all. The one that I used recently had issues, the green valve did not fit into the hole in the adapter. I hammered it and pounded on it to try to make it fit, and it still didn’t go.
If anyone knows of a good one that works that is similar from another company, please let me know.
