ORIGINAL QUESTION:
Hi List members,
1. Do you know if there are fees associated with the new spinal K
codes? Where can they be found?
2. Looking at the Cigna/Medicare (Region D) online fee schedule, I
am unable to find L3620 for a stirrup transfer, although transfers are
still covered in the policy section.

Update: I just heard from someone at AOPA who told us that the new K
code fees won’t be out for a year or so. We need to create and submit
our own customary fees for the K codes when we invoice.
RESPONSES:
If the fee has been set you will find it here:
http://www.cms.hhs.gov/providers/pufdownload/default.asp?
Sorry Randy, you have to bill Medicare labor and parts for a stirrup
transfer. Stupid isn’t it. I just got the DMERC cd for spring 2004 but
I haven’t looked in it yet for the k code fees. Heck, I don’t even know
what some of those codes describe. Check out AOPAnet.com and see if
they are listed there.
It is my understanding that the fees associated with the new LSO “K”
codes will be released in 3Q-04. If true, I would anticipate that the
DMERCs will issue a supplier bulletin in June with these new fees once
CMS completes the gap filling process for these new codes.
I just heard from Kathy Dodson at AOPA that there are currently no fees
connected with the K codes.
