I find what is going on to be disturbing. I supported the concept of merger
and still do if done respectfully and in a manner that recognizes the
differences between the pathways. I find it amusing that my office manager who got her
BOC certification some years ago by attending a camp fitting course is now
going to become an ABC certified practitioner and has never made a custom product
in her life. Heck she hasn’t even fit soft goods in 15 years. What should I
pay her?
This is absolutely nuts. Bring these BOC practitioners into the fold. But do
it intelligently not some blanket offering/knee jerk reaction like this. It is
high time that ABC recognized the variety and levels of practitioners in our
industry but we have time to do it with consideration and thoughtfulness. ABC
needs to establish some form of means testing for these “candidates” and apply
it in a way that lets me as an employer know what I am paying for. Is the
board just to lazy to put in the effort? I say one last time “SLOW DOWN AND DO IT
THE RIGHT WAY.”
