abc-boc

Has this disgrace of ABC selling certificates for $75.00 totally destroyed
the concept of state licensure? Lets take Ohio for example. It is my
understanding that “new” practitioners to the state have to pass an exam that is
similar to the ABC exam and is administered by ABC, unless of course you are already
an ABC practitioner which then you have already passed the requirements.
Ohio licensure is designed to have a minimum requirement that is equaled to ABC
standards for practitioners. By allowing boc personnel that “buy” into an ABC
certification these practitioners don’t have to prove themselves by passing an
ABC exam. Doesn’t this defeat state licensure to insure a minimum level of
competency? Wasn’t a certain standard of competency the reason for state
licensure? I really don’t think that this ploy of ABC will sink boc or any other
permutation of that organization. And I believe that ABC has just made a joke
of all the hard work and money spent by state organizations that tried to
accomplish a minimum standard of compentency.
