I have a gentleman who is wearing a donjoy defiance with a lockable knee joint. He has been a longtime brace wearer and is extremely happy with the design of brace, as it is lightweight and comfortable. The unfortunate circumstance is that the hinge continually fails. After a couple of months, the flexion stop (which appears to be spring loaded) seizes in the unlocked position. This man is a diligent brace wearer, takes good care of the brace, and is still having problems. Donjoy has been very accomodative, and are repairing the brace on an ongoing basis. I am not able to take the knee apart, as this will void the warranty. Repairing it every month or so is not an acceptable solution for him, or me.
My question is, has anyone had this similar problem with the droplock defiance brace?
Supplimentary question- is there any other brace out there (central fab) that has a drop lock, or locking knee which would hold up better than donjoy?
