Mr. McNeill is correct in saying that ABC credential practitioners do not
have membership status. Your dues only cover your credential and verify that
you have met their standards. You have no input as to how those standards
should be maintained or viewed by ABC. They can do what they want. The only
Membership organization that represents the professional is the Academy.
They can help influence decisions made by the ABC board since they have
membership representation on that board. With all of these decisions that
our big brother’s (ABC AOPA) are making for us these days it is good to know
there is at least one organization that represents the professional. We need
to join them in fighting for the professional issues, otherwise our big
brothers will continue to make it work for them. Its not just all about the
money.

It never ceases to amaze me that there are still some people that
think they
belong to ABC. YOU DO NOT. ABC is a credentialing body not a
membership
organization. The board of directors have a fiduciary responsibility
do what they
feel is in the best interest of ABC. If you don’t like it, don’t
renew your
credential. They are interested in your opinion, please voice it,
but you can’t
vote.
