diabetic shoe upcharge

Joan K. Cestaro, CP

We offer a specific shoe for our patients qualifying for Medicare’s
Diabetic Shoe Program. The shoe we chose fits the bill and most do
choose it. If patients demand a higher end shoe, we add an upcharge for
deluxe feature (higher quality shoe) and this is obviously non covered
and is paid by the patient out of pocket. Does any other facility have
a similar policy?
