Tampa Bay Prosthetist Lends Helping Hand and ARM to Amputee

41 year old Mauricio Lopez of Nicaragua will be receiving more than a helping hand Thursday June 26th. He came to this country in May to specifically receive prosthetic rehabilitation and will be fitted with a new arm Thursday morning that will allow him to return to his job in his native country.

Prosthetist, Donald Lee Smith, of Hanger Prosthetitic and Orthopedics,115 South MacDill Avenue,Tampa tele 813-251-1590 sponsored Mauricio for the Barr Foundation in getting him a new arm. Mr.Smith has been working on the project for the past 30 days.

The Barr Foundation is a non profit amputee assistance organization,based in Florida whom coordinated this effort.The Barr Foundation www.oandp.com/barr provides prosthetic rehabilitation funding for approx 150 amputees both domestically and abroad every year.

Hosmer Dorrance Corp. of California donated the prosthetic components for this effort.
Every year 150,000 people in the USA alone suffer limb loss.

The Barr Foundation would like to thank Don Smith LPO, yet another of the 100 sponsors, and Hosmer Dorrance Corp.,one of 60 Hope Donors whom have helped our organization provide over 700 amputees with prosthetic rehabilitation whom otherwise would not been able to afford it.
