Just some thoughts on the Ossur situation.
When I received the Ossur PR package, I was concerned about the program and
called Ossur to clarify the criteria to participate.
An overview of the info I received follows.

Pay Ossur annual fee
Criteria
$12,000.00 annual purchases from Ossur
Be ABC or meet Ossuary’s “audit criteria”, is that another accounting term
for sales
There is no mention of policies and procedures, quality assurance programs,
Patient Management standards.
And to purchase from their foot group.
The patter I see here is Ossur and Sales and nothing more than a marketing
plan.
In the Ossur guide they mention “rigorous professional standards, my concern
is how the patients would interpret this. Since the only rigorous standards
are the volume purchases.
Also years ago the professionals stopped calling patients by their
diagnosis, it would be more appropriate for Ossur to refer to our patients as patients.
Ossur has done a powerful marketing job and it is just that it promotes
Ossur primarily and had offended many of its customers by the reaction to the
listserve.
Ossur would be best serve by doing what they always did and that was to
improve their products line and to leave the patients to the professionals.
