M. Teri Powers-Watts, CPO, CPED

Dear List,
Thanks in advance. I have a male, 40 year old patient with a short AK
residual limb. (27 operations). When his limb was longer, he used an Otto
Bock 3R80. He has not been able to use it for about 2 years. We need a
light weight knee that is very stable, preferably with a positive lock. The
patient weighs only 170 and works as a maintenance engineer for an apartment
complex. He must crawl on occasion. He is also an avid hunter, using a tree
stand. Durability is a critical issue. Some of the knees rejected so far
include: Total knee, SNS, 3R45, Ultimate. etc. Presently he is using a
PK-4000 pneumatic 4 bar. It has been okay for 2-3 months but then started
binding up. Cleaning the valves as recommended does not help.
Any suggestions wopuld be deeply appreciate.
Merry Christmas to all. May God be with you.
