US-Politics

Morris Gallo

A different idea.

Virginia “Ginny” Brown-Waite is running for the US House of Representatives. “So”, you ask, “why should I care”. Ginny is a State Senator from Florida and was the sponsor of Florida’s licensure legislation. It was her initiative to help a constituent who receive very poor care that resulted in the country’s first O&P licenses. Over the last six years she has worked very hard to keep and maintain the O&P law, preserving its integrity and assuring the patient/consumer of a practitioner with at least a minimal level of training.

She has a very good chance of winning. Her role in the Florida Senate has been in healthcare so it is probable she will seek similar committees in the US House. In that position she can be counted on as a champion for the disabled and as a person who understands the role of the prosthetist/orthotist.

One of the major hurdles in any campaign is raising money. Without money you can’t get your message to the voters and thus will not be a viable candidate. Federal law limits contributions to Federal candidates. Only personal funds are acceptable, no corporate checks, and the limit is $1000 per election. But you and your wife may each contribute the limit.

If you would like to see someone friendly to O&P in the House consider making a contribution. I am not only appealing to Florida residents. Her impact in the House would be national, so I am asking all practitioners to consider making as large a contribution as possible.

When you decide it is in the interest of everyone to have a lady with these credentials in the House email me direct. I will put you in contact with the appropriate persons to receive your check(s).

Think about it, the future is now.
