Friends,
I have developed a friendship with a 35 year old woman near Chicago. Five years ago she had a complete right lower quad amputation (Majority of soft tissue was removed). She has had nerve damage to the remaining leg. She is an ostomate and is wheelchair bound.
She is considering having the left leg removed (it is effectively paralyzed). Her physician has been non-committal in regards to performing the amputation. She has several parapalegic neighbors who recommend that she have the amputation done. I recommended that she get a second opinion.
Can you please direct me to any groups, CP’s that I can direct her to? I believe the technology exists to make her comfortable without removing the remaining limb.
