Mr. Baum and List,
I agree with your view and feel DAFO’s and central fab’s in general serve
their purpose in providing care to patients. My only problem is that Cascade
is marketing their products to PT’s and cutting out O&P providers all
together. I’m not sure if this trend is regional but it is definitely
happening at two major institutions in the Southeast. Again, this is not a
knock on DAFO’s as a product and their efficacy, it is more of a concern of
mine with the future need of Orthotists being minimized. As a practitioner
with minimal experience(2+ years) maybe my view is narrow and I’m not seeing
the whole picture so any insight on this would be appreciated.
