We have a very unique patient requiring bilateral clam shell AFOs
(custom over cast) and bilateral clam shell WHFOs (custom over cast).
The numerous difficulties required 3 practitioners, the patient’s
mother, 20 rolls of plaster and 2 hours to cast this patient due to his
excessive involuntary resistance. We anticipate the fitting process and
adjustments to be challenging as well.
For the bilateral clam shell AFOs (custom over cast) we will use codes
L1960, L2340 and L2820. We will use code L3907 for the WHFO, but the
problem we’re having is the correct codes for the clam shells with
interface on the WHFO. We would appreciate your help.
