Suggestions

Dear List members

An orthopeadic Surgeon has referred a 10 month old female child who has an

absence of tibia and knee joint since birth. Her toes are also missing. Her

foot is completely deformed and the space between her distal end of femur

and the residual foot is about 2 inces.

The expectations of the Surgeon and the parents are that the child should be

able to stand and subsequently walk in next 3 to six months along with her

Orthosis. Surgeon also wants a night orthosis for correct positioning of foot.

I am looking for suggestions from the list members who have dealt with such

type of cases in past. Pl. send your pragmatic suggestions.

Thanking you in advance.
