Re: helix

I went to the Virtual-gait site and saw a picture of an AFO version. Are

there any pictures of a KAFO helix or double helix version?

It’s my understanding that Jean Paul Nielsen isn’t with Oregon Orthotic

Systems as of a few years ago. I did take the OOS course from him (which I

was impressed with), my company hosted a seminar he gave, and I provided some

OOS orthoses to my clients and they do a good job for the proper candidates,

(addressing rotational deformities in the transverse plane.) I am guessing

that the helix system is a new venture by Mr. Neilsen, likely utilizing the

corrective principles used in the OOS, perhaps with different materials.

I never heard why Mr. Neilsen left OOS, but I did learn form the course he

taught and appreciated his role in sharing his expertise on with his

colleagues. Perhaps his new marketing strategy is a result of his experience

with OOS.

I appreciated the well-wordede posts by both Ralph Nobbe and Karen Steele,

but got a kick out of Bob McCullough’s more “off the wall” remarks.(not

always PC, but you don’t have to wonder what he’s thinking!)

I agree we should get past egos (ours and other’s) and see what can be

learned to benefit the folks we’re in this profession for.
