In regards to STIF, if the group is ever formed, it will be for the sole purpose of creating a more level playing field when purchasing O&P supplies and components. Independent facilities purchase over 70% of the O&P supplies and components sold, yet pay on an average of 22% more. That is because of the sales policies set up by the manufacturers. This is not about Hanger or Hanger owned manufacturers. It is mostly about independent manufacturers selling to the large distributors at ridiculous discounts, but not discounting to a facility when selling direct.
The independent O&P manufacturer gives SPS, Pel, Cascade, etc. at least 50% off when the distributor handles their product. How much of a discount do they give you, when you order direct?? Why not ask them. Don’t let them give you some crap about volume. Remember, if you are an independent facility, you account for 70% of their sales, as a group.
