I have one last response as many of you were interested enough to respond.
Yes, I do receive a sizeable discount from the items that are manufactured
by Hanger owned companies. The discount received from SPS on non-Hanger
items is NOT the 50% perceived by some.
As a manager, I have to watch the bottom line closely. Are there any
managers/owners, Hanger or otherwise, out there who don’t? Is there anyone
out there who actively seeks out the most expensive supplier/manufacturer
they can find? I doubt it.
Fact of the matter is, we all have a choice who we purchase our materials
and components from. I choose to buy from the supplier or manufacturer who
gives me the best product for my clients first, and service/price second.
Any doubts? Come visit our facility and view the components used here. I
think you’ll find a wide array of manufacturers, not unlike any of you out
there. If I didn’t, I would only have the SPS catalogue on my shelf (which
isn’t a bad idea if you could see my office!).
I have one more question to ask. How many O & P facilities out there have
had a significant reduction (50% seems to be the magic number) in their
business due to my receiving a discount?
