I am a student in the Prosthetic Program at Dominguez Hills. One of our
requirements for graduation is to plan and write a research project. For my
project I have chosen “The most efficient and effective way to extract a
positive mold from a socket.”
There are three ways that I know of to extract a positive mold from a
socket:
1. Break out the mold.
2. Blow off the socket, after heating.
3. Use a cast extraction device, after heating. This looks like a big
corkscrew, which pulls the socket away from the mold.
What I ask of you is if you know where I can find such a device. Where I can
obtain information on such a device and cast extraction in general.
It is a procedure that we perform everyday yet it has become very difficult
to obtain information on such a procedure.
